The Betsy and Brooke O’Leary Abelson Charitable Trust was established in 2019 in memory of Betsy and Brooke O’Leary Abelson. The Trust honors Betsy and Brooke’s legacy and potential to do good in this world. It was established by Betsy’s family and friends and has supported a number of exciting projects that Betsy would have been proud to support.
As a non-profit organization, the mission of the Betsy and Brooke Charitable Trust is to provide financial resources to support philanthropic initiatives that embody Betsy’s loving spirit. It’s a living legacy to her and a way for family and friends to stay connected with her through supporting organizations that Betsy loved.
Like ripples in a lake, the generosity of donors creates multiple circles of positive action and support around the country.

Squam Lakes Association
The Squam Lakes Association is dedicated to conserving for the public benefit the natural beauty, peaceful character and resources of the watershed to ensure protection, careful use and shared enjoyment of the lakes, mountains, forests, open spaces and wildlife of the Squam Lakes region.
Betsy’s Park
This low-impact park in Holderness, NH, offers space for the Squam Watershed community to participate in many of the activities in which Betsy found both excitement and peace, and provides a natural, lovely setting for the thing she valued most—spending time with family and friends.
Camp Southern Ground
Camp Southern Ground provides extraordinary experiences for individuals to recognize and magnify the unique gifts within themselves and others to profoundly impact the world. Two endowments were created through the Betsy and Brooke O’Leary Abelson Charitable Trust: One for veterans and one for children. These endowed funds provide camp tuition for a veteran and a child to attend Camp Southern Ground.

Better & Faster Together
Better & Faster Together supports athletes, parents and coaches involved in competitive sports by offering scholarship opportunities to clubs, athletes, innovative curriculum and tools designed to promote a healthy, competitive environment and recognition for exemplary community role models.
Wellspring House
The Wellspring House, located in Gloucester, Massachusetts, shelters homeless families. They have helped hundreds of families to secure permanent homes, graduated more than a thousand low-income adults from their education and job training programs and facilitated the development of over 100 units of affordable housing.
The River Fund
The River Fund is dedicated to providing physical, emotional and spiritual support to people living with AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses, to their loved ones and caregivers, and to others in need.
The Betsy and Brooke O’Leary Abelson Charitable Trust makes private equity investments in businesses that are developing technologies and services that benefit humanity such as AKSTON Biomed. The Trust participated in equity financing to support the development of treatments for Type 1 Diabetes, which is a debilitating disease for children.
